Why Medellin?
Medellin is perhaps one of the
most beautiful cities in South America. It is also one of the safest South
American countries.
Considered the flower capital of
the world, Medellin, the Capital City of the State of Antioquia, embraces
the Paisa population and culture. The State includes more than 100 villages,
towns and cities. Breathtaking evergreen forests, parks, lakes, rivers,
recreational, tourist, historic, cultural facilities and attractions.
History & Geography
Founded in 1616,
Medellin is a bustling city with over 3,000,000 inhabitants.
Medellín has an area of 382 km². It has 16 comunas (districts), 5
corregimientos and 271 barrios. The metropolitan area of Medellín lies
within the Aburrá valley at an elevation of 1,538 meters (5,000 ft)
above sea level, and is bisected by the Medellín River which flows
northward.
Why South America?
It wasn't until I actually
visited Latin America that I finally understood why was it that, for
generations, people immigrated to South America and never turned back... and,
for the most part , we rarely heard back from them.
There is a simple explanation; an
exceptional Climate (aires buenos)... the breathtaking landscape... the natural warmth of the respectful and helpful people... the genuine
social bonding... the true sense of community... the simplicity of life...
etc... etc...

Five hours from New York and you
are in the City of Eternal Spring. Springtime all year round.
A question often asked by couples going through divorce is whether it matters who
initiates the divorce and files the divorce complaint first. While both
plaintiff and defendant will be
divorced legally no matter who initiates the divorce, it does matter who files
the Divorce Complaint first.
When you weigh the cons and pros, the defendant usually
has more disadvantages for many reasons. In addition to the psychological edge,
the plaintiff, who first files the divorce
petition, is typically the one who is in control the speed of the
proceedings.
In Restaurants
In the U.S., you arrive at a restaurant, and in most
likelihood, it takes you few minutes before anyone notices you... and when they
do, you get a cold "can
I help you?" with an attitude...
After you are seated, you see waiters pass you right and left without greeting
you
let alone acknowledging you. When your waiter finally arrives, you get a half-ass
"what can I get you?" with an attitude.
By contrast, in South America, and as soon as you
arrive, even if they are packed, a host welcomes you immediately with a
respectful "Buenas, Señor" and a big welcoming smile... and seats you in the
best seat available. The waiting staff is polite, smiling and
pleasant that by the time your meal arrives you are friends with most of them.

The Exceptional Climate
and the Forgotten Innocence!...
A few hours is
all it took to recapture the forgotten innocence that we seem to have lost.
It is South
America, a place where strangers actually greet one another on the street…a
place where people are respectful… You are always greeted warmly with a
sincere “Buenas, Señor”…The people in the stores… the people in restaurants… the
doorman… even the police… immigration… and the airlines…
Omar, a good
old Texan, was in NYC on a visit. All he did was attempt to start
conversation on the subway... when he got a true taste of the rude NY attitude...
Because of its high elevation,
The climate of Medellín is Humid subtropical climate even though it is located
near the equator. The average annual temperature is constant 22ºC (72º F)
year round with minimal temperature variations. Temperatures range from 15º C
(52º F) to 30º C (86º F). The pleasant spring-like climate year round makes it
known as "La Ciudad de la Eterna Primavera" or "City of the Eternal
Spring"

Easy and Lasting Friendships
South America is a place where
people are genuinely “good”… good people who love to help one another and be with
one another… good
people who make friends easily with strangers… enjoy social get togethers…
and enrich one another.
In my never
ending desire to explore new places and connect with new people, I finally made
it to South America... after all those years. The term South America had been worn out between people in
America looking at South Americans as "Children of a lesser God", and those who could not
stop saying how warm the South American culture is, how pretty their women are,
and many generations of immigrants who have given up the glory of the U.S, Europe
and the Middle East and opted to live in the middle of nowhere... in South America.
Well, now I
know South America... and although
I am not yet ready to give up my glory in the U.S., I now have a higher
appreciation for simplicity of life in the “real world”… far away from New
York... the way the world
should be.

Touchy Feely & Lovey Dovey
Since drivers are crazy and since taxi fares
are quite cheap, I chose to take taxis everywhere I went... When
accompanied, I typically sat next to the taxi driver with my left arm
extended, and the
girls all
squeezed in the back... It is not unusual to have one, two, three and
even four of them caress my arm at the same time in a display of
friendly affection with a hint of innocent sensuality unique to South American
women... something the "know-it-all" women in America find it "weird". The energy emanating from 4 women touching you is truly
an exceptional heartwarming sensation.
Food that really tastes like Food
South America is a place where food actually
tastes like food...The meat tastes like meat (not like cardboard)... the
fruits are sweet and abundant...

Paisas: Classy yet Cariñosas!...
Although everyone from Medellin is referred
to as "paisa". The word "paisa" is best thought of as a description
of the beautiful women of Medellin.
In New York City, if a man dares give a
woman on the street an admiring shy look, she immediately shoots him
down with that disapproving "dirty" look, the one she saves for
convicted criminals and people with last year's haircut... followed by
a psychotic angry frown. If he ever tries to ask a question or initiate friendly
conversation, the woman will ignore him and continue walking pretending
he doesn't exist.
In contrast, in South America, you can see stunningly
beautiful women all over the place and they all have one thing in
common: they are secure in their own skin and very humble.
You give a classy woman on the street an admiring look, she reciprocates
with a friendly eye contact, a heartwarming smile and, actually
initiates a greeting: "Buenas!"... If you initiate a friendly
conversation, "en Español" of course, she would stop and talk to you
without hesitation, perhaps join you for a cup of coffee, and then later
for dinner and, if you know what to say and do, they have no hang ups
about going with you to your apartment and spend quality time
with you.
South America can be a single guy's paradise
every day of the week -- all for FREE!... In the U.S., the only
choice "certain" guys have is to spend "Money" for few hours in
paradise...
Natural Homemakers
In addition to their many natural talents,
the women in South America are very "feminine" and natural homemakers.... As a sign of
friendship, and without me asking or them asking permission, they tidied
my apartment, ordered food from a delicious take out place, set up the
table for all of us to eat, talk and laugh... then washed the dishes and cleaned up the table afterwards
before music and dancing started...
In contrast, many women in the U.S. will
never lift a finger to help out a male friend who invites them for a
friendly enjoyable evening at his house... They just eat and let him do
everything else.
Best Company
Many women in the US are under the twisted
notion
that they are God's gift to men... They "expect" a male friend to make
plans to take them out and show them round and be their entertaining
clown all the time.
By contrast, in Latin America, my female
friends
loved to make plans for all of us to go out together, so they can show
me around, explore their town and their parks, listen to bands, and be the
best guides a man can hope for as they engaged me with endearing
conversations and useful information about their country and their
simple life and happy existence.
Naturally Warm & Expressive
In the US, many women are needlessly
petrified of strangers... and treat strangers like a plague.
In Latin America, like in Europe, many women
truly feel that "there are no strangers out there, just friends that you
haven't met". So, from the get go, they treat you like a human being and
welcome you as a family member. Hugs and kisses are given so
freely between friends even though neither one intends to sleep with the
other... Just a true sense of close friendship and
warmth without fear nor complications...
